How to use the chart
Most everyday conversions use a fixed factor. To convert in one direction, multiply by the factor. To convert back, divide by the same factor or use the reverse factor shown in the converter. For example, miles to kilometers uses 1.609344, while kilometers to miles divides by 1.609344.
Rounding matters. A recipe, school assignment, travel estimate, or quick budget can usually tolerate rounded results. Engineering, medical, legal, lab, construction, and safety-sensitive work should use official standards and appropriate precision.

When to use the converter instead
Use the chart when you need to understand the factor. Use the converter when you need a fast result for a specific input, especially with decimals. The converter also reduces the chance of accidentally multiplying when you meant to divide.
For recipes, travel, schoolwork, shipping estimates, or home projects, a rounded result is often enough. For any regulated or safety-critical measurement, use authoritative tools and confirm the required precision.
